How many pennies did I convert? 0
Some people may not know this…but I am currently working at a Laundromat. Well…since working implies that I receive payments – I should rather say that I am helping my parents out. You see, My parents are visiting some relatives back in India….a vacation of sorts. So it is up to me and my sister to take care of the Laundromat.
Today, my sister told me I had to go to Kroger and use their Coin Star system to convert pennies into cold-hard cash. Sounds easy enough. That is…until I saw the amount of pennies. My dad has been putting pennies into this large box for couple of years now. Currently…the box was overflowing with pennies. It looked like a scene from the duck show…you know those three ducks with a really rich and thrifty uncle. I completely forgot the name of the show, and I am way too tired to look it up. Okay back to the story. So…my job was to convert all these pennies to cash. A daunting chore…but the reward was good. I got to keep half of the cash. Woo to the freaking hoo!
I’m not going to bore you all with the details. It took a total of six trips and about 3 hours (Coin Star machine was slow…and there were lines!). In the end I ended up with $161 dollars total (I get to keep half of that!). So how many pennies did I convert today? Let’s do some math. A little reminder to some: I suck at math.
Total Earned: $161
Total Fees: 9.8%
So X times .908 = $161
After about 20 minutes of calculator work…I get about $178.
